The Mayor of Seneca, Dan Alexander, has proclaimed the week of September 27, 2010 as 'South Carolina Lions and Hearing Conservation Week' to coincide with 'Lions World Sight Day' on October 2, 2010. 'Lions Sight and Hearing Conservation Week' will begin on September 27, 2010, and continue through October 2, 2010, to include the annual 'Lions Candy Days' donation drive.

There are more than 5.000 Lions Club Members of the State of South Carolina actively engaged in sight and hearing conservation and aid to the blind and deaf. The mayor is urging everyone to be generous to the Lions Clubs of South Carolina in their annual Candy Days donation drive so they may continue to provide great humanitarian services to the people of South Carolina.

The Candy Days donation drive helps to provide funds to operate the SC Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit; helps to fund eye examinations, eye surgeries, and eye glasses for people in need; helps n purchase of hearing aids for people in need; an international youth exchange program. Plus, the drive provides support for two camps for blind children in South Carolina.
