Dr. Millicent Brown, guest Lecturer, was among the first African American children in South Carolina to integrate schools
in South Carolina, almost 10 years after the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Brown vs. Board of Education. She is co-founder
and Project Director of a national initiative to identify the “first children”, like herself, to desegregate previously all-white
schools (Somebody Had to Do It project). Dr. Brown is an advocate for economic, social, and educational improvements for
people of color throughout the South, the nation, and the world. The public is invited. Refreshments will be served 6:00-6:30pm.
